The Passing of Dr. J. B. Buffington

LAKELAND – Dr. Junious Bryson “J.B.” Buffington, 86, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 at his home in Lakeland due to dementia.

J.B. was a B-17 pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He moved to Lakeland in 1963 from Bristol, Florida. He was the pastor at Calvary Baptist Church before his retirement. He is currently a member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Haines City.

His survivors include his wife, Betty Buffington; son, Joel (Angela) Buffington; daughters, Sharon (Mike) O’Brien, Peggy (Jimmy) Robson, Debbie (Randy) Starner and Carolyn (Petro) Polanycia; brother, William D. Buffington; eight (8) grandchildren, Melody, Holly, Michele, Andrew, Reagan, Kevin, Bryson and Colin.

The visitation will be held on Thursday August 27, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home (Northside Chapel). Funeral services will be Friday August 28 at 10:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church.
